Washington Road runs on a two-shift schedule most of the year, but from June through October it tightens into something closer to a weekly cadence. Saturday mornings belong to one market. Wednesday evenings belong to another. Concert nights and the classic car show slide onto that same axis. If you already live in Lebo, you don't need a list of things to do. You need to know which night is which, who is playing, and where to eat before the encore.
Here is the mid-summer version of that map.
Two markets, two moods, same street
Most towns get one farmers market. Uptown gets two, and they behave nothing alike.

The Wednesday market is the sleeper. The Farmers Grill runs a menu that includes vegan grilled polenta topped with Cowboy Candy and the almost-famous Notorious P.I.G. served farmer style, and Blackberry Meadows, Allegheny County's oldest certified organic farm, brings fresh eggs from the hen house. Ordering ahead at thefarmersgrill.com is the move if you want a particular item before it sells out.
The Saturday market is where the district actually socializes. Azeeza's Cakes & Bakes has been a familiar stop for samosas, pancakes, buns, and cakes, and the pace is built for lingering.
If you are new to the rhythm, use the two markets as anchors. Everything else on the summer calendar plugs into them.
The concert calendar you should already have on your fridge
The Music in the Park summer series is free, held under the trees at Mt. Lebanon Park with room for a blanket or a chair, and it runs on the basketball courts at 900 Cedar Boulevard. The remaining dates worth blocking off:
- Sunday, July 19, 7 to 8:30 p.m. — The Delaneys, playing rock, classics, and current music
- Sunday, August 2, 7 to 8:30 p.m. — The Timothy Earl Band, modern country hits and country rock
Two shows in three weeks, both free, both walkable from Washington Road. That is the whole pitch. Bring a chair. Do not overthink it.
The July 4 slot has already come and gone this year, but for the record it was Saved by the 90s from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., preceded by children's activities, games, food and vendors from noon to 5 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Worth knowing next summer if you have out-of-town family debating when to visit.
There is one more Uptown fixture that belongs on the same page as the concerts, because it shuts down Washington Road for a day and turns the street into a fairground:
The 29th annual show includes classic cars, food, vendors and live music from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Awards will be presented for the top 60 cars, Best in Show, Chief's Choice and the Pete Rust Memorial Trophy. Rain or shine. Washington Road, between 600 and 700 blocks. Free and open to the public.
That is the Mt. Lebanon Police Department Classic Car Show. If you have kids under ten, this is a full morning of entertainment for the cost of a coffee.
What to eat, keyed to what you are already doing
Uptown has more dining than a strip its size should support, which means the useful question is not "where is good" but "which place fits which night." Sort them by the plan you already have.
Saturday morning, after the Uptown Market
Simone's serves breakfast, brunch and lunch all day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the heart of Uptown Mt. Lebanon on Washington Road. This is the market-day landing pad. You are already on foot. You are already carrying flowers or bread. Walk over.
Wednesday, after the Lions market
Laziz Lebanese Cuisine sits on the corner of Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon and offers authentic Lebanese fare from a family-owned kitchen, with gyro platters, chicken shawarma, falafel wraps, mezza, grape leaves, spinach pies, and homemade baklava and rice pudding built on recipes passed down through generations. If you bought produce at 4 p.m. and someone is asking about dinner at 6:15, this is the answer.
Concert night, low-key
Mullett's Mt. Lebo runs a gluten-friendly kitchen where gluten and non-gluten buns are stored and sliced separately, and everything made in-house is gluten-free. Rotating features drop on their social pages Fridays between 3:30 and 5. Casual, easy, works before or after Music in the Park.
The Saloon of Mt. Lebanon opened its doors on November 1st, 1976 and grew a reputation as the place in the South Hills where everybody knows your name. Thirty draft beers, more than fifty bottled beers, and a fully stocked bar with liquor and wine. If you want the version of Lebo that has been running unchanged for half a century, this is it.
The one that changed the dining conversation
F&F Pizzeria brought a pie to Mount Lebanon that The New York Times has ranked among the best in the entire city, with seasonal pies and slices, market-driven fare meant to be passed around the table, and a thoughtful selection of wines and cocktails. Its founders trace their style back to their own restaurant, the famed Frankies 457 Spuntino in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
That is not a small detail. A pizzeria attached to a nationally respected Brooklyn kitchen chose Washington Road. Residents have been reading it as a leading indicator for what Uptown attracts next.
Date night and occasions
Bistro 19 is a neighborhood bistro in Mt. Lebanon serving seasonal American cuisine, signature favorites, craft cocktails, brunch, lunch, and dinner in Pittsburgh's South Hills.
Mitchell's Fish Market in the Galleria of Mt. Lebanon runs a chef-driven menu featuring Today's Catch, a full raw bar, and an open kitchen with seafood prepared grilled, broiled, blackened, Shang Hai style, or to order. Ten minutes from any front door in Lebo, dressed-up enough for an anniversary, casual enough for a Tuesday.
The off-Washington-Road detail most residents miss
The two farmers markets close at the end of October. That gap between November and June used to be a real problem for the people who actually built their weekly grocery habit around the Lions market.
Mort's Fresh & Local, an indoor farmers market at 1608 Cochran Road in Scott Township, features a variety of products grown or made in the Greater Pittsburgh area in a temperature-controlled environment. The founder began brainstorming the concept last July after realizing, as a regular visitor of the Mt. Lebanon farmers markets, that she wanted to keep enjoying those products and create an indoor space for the vendors to sell in the off-season.
Technically Scott Township. Practically a five-minute drive from Uptown, and the answer to the question of where the Wednesday market vendors go in January. Worth filing away now so you remember in three months.
Reading the map
If you strung together everything above, you would have a full summer of walkable Saturdays, useful Wednesdays, two free concerts, a car show, and eight dining anchors within a mile of Washington Road. None of it is new to a longtime resident individually. What is easy to miss is how densely it stacks in July and August, and how much of it runs on the same two-day-a-week rhythm.
Uptown works because the Partnership and the Lions Club and the Rec Department all schedule around each other. That coordination is invisible when it goes right, which is most of the time.
